Eric Walter Powell (British 1886-1933): 'On the Little St Bernard Pass' and Fjord Landscape, pair watercolours signed and dated 1922 and 1930 each 30cm x 42cm (2) Notes: Schoolmaster, artist and rower who won bronze for Great Britain at the 1908 Summer Olympics. During the First World War, he served as Squadron Commander in the Royal Flying Corps and the R.A.F., and later became a house master and art teacher at Eton. Powell was also a keen mountaineer, and tragically met his death at Pontresina in an Alpine accident on Piz Roseg.
